24th of July Weekend

Sorry this post took so long to put up. Our camera ran out of batteries before we had a chance to take any pictures so we've been trying to gather pictures from other people...

We had such a fantastic weekend! Little to no sleep, and lots of fun. Last Thursday, the 24th we set out for Fairview at 4:30 in the morning...we got there just in time for the big pioneer day parade. Seth's whole family was able to come down and experience a true "small town" celebration. We collected tons of candy at the parade (and by we, I mean Seth and his little brother Stockton--he kept shouting "tandy tandy"). My parents hosted a BBQ, then the men went golfing. The 24th of July isn't complete without attending the Fairview demolition derby and firework show. It was so much fun and thanks to my mom we had awesome seats! (For those not familiar, tickets go on sale a month in advance and sell out within an hour--she was first pick in the lotto!)
These pictures of the derby are from a couple years ago--but you get the idea

On Friday, we were able to attend the Manti temple with my family and eat dinner at Fat Jack's Pizza (I guess technically it's Roy's now, but it will always be Fat Jack's to me)

Saturday, we had a family party for my Grandma and Grandpa Anderson who just celebrated 50 years of marriage! I put together a video for them (and if I may say so, it was awesome!) It was so fun to see all the old pictures of them growing up and of their young family. My grandparents have always been such a great example to me and they still care so much about things going on in my life. I have so many great memories with them, I loved living so close to them growing up. I can only hope to raise my family as well as they have raised theirs, they are amazing!

We also HAD to go to the drive-in movie theatre for old times sake. (We watched Hancock--ehh)
Sunday morning we went to my aunt Carolyn and uncle Lee's homecoming. They just got back from serving as mission president's in Roseville, California. Seth was especially excited, because after 5 years of marriage, and missing all the wrong family functions, he was finally able to meet and hang out with L. Tom Perry (my uncle's father).

We left early Monday morning to get back to our life and jobs in Las Vegas. Our weekends in Utah always go by way too fast!

I am so glad that you were able to go home for the 24th! It is my absolute favorite holiday but only if it is spent in good old Sanpete. There is nothing like a small town celebration. I have missed it the last 4 years...sad!

I miss the drive-in. Remember going in the Beck's furniture van?

Oh man Linds, would I ever be sad if Las Vegas took the Gonzalez's with them. Of course I don't wish for it to burn the good people, just the sinning extravaganza's...You guys would be immediately exhalted anyway, you don't even have to worry! Man I miss you guys! I loved your pictures! Brings back good ole memories...I went to my first demolition derby on the 26th of july in Heber, and we're hooked now. Jeff actually wants to enter now, he's got his car all planned out. How cool that you got to chill with L. Tom Perry! Do you guys ever see Mimi and Lincoln down there? Next time I'm down, I'll have to give ya a call. Love ya!
