Addy is growing up too fast. Yes, that's cliche. But it's true! This page is to specifically document the funny and sweet things she says. These are just a few of my favorites:
May {2012}:
We are trying to decide what to name the baby boy and one morning asked Addy what she thought we should name him. She usually says a normal name but this time said, " Poop. Poopy. Poopy one. Yeah. Poopy one."
We are going to go up to our cabin for Memorial Day and I was telling Addy about it and how it is up in the mountains. She said, "Oh, I can't go. I'll fall down and break my crown."
Figuring out more and more that she has a lot of her dad in her. He loves movies and will quote them all the time. She has done this for quite some time, but kind of threw me the other day when she quoted 2 whole pages of a Peter Pan book that she listens to on tape (yes, tape...grandma still has them). She did the voice of captain Hook and the ding at the end to turn the page.
After finishing breakfast she looked at me and said, "So, uh, what do we do now?" She is growing too fast!
We were eating mac 'n' cheese for dinner one night and Addy put some on her bread and said, "it's like strawberries!"
March {2012}:
Adalyn was potty trained in February and has been wearing panties. On more that one occasion she has gotten a wedgie and come up to me saying, "Mom, my bum's showin'. Fix it."
January {2012}:
Adalyn was taking a bath one Sunday morning and I brought my blow-dryer in the bathroom so I could supervise and also get ready at the same time. She looked at me and said, "Mama, what the heck is that?" I was shocked because I didn't know if I heard her right and asked, "Did you just say, what the heck is that?" She replied matter-of-factly, "Yeah, what the heck is that?" I then tried to be a good mother and tell her we don't say those kind of words but I had a hard time controlling my laughter...
She has been "cooking" up a storm in her kitchen that Santa brought her for Christmas. I was down playing with her and took a lick of a play ice-cream cone. She immediately grabbed it from me and in a very stern voice said, "afta dinna!"
December {2011}:
This girl is getting too sassy too fast. So many sweet, funny things I can barely remember them. A few that stick out:
All month Addy has been saying, "Guess what!? Santa's comin in 2 days." We finally figured out that she had picked it up from the song "Santa Claus is coming 'TO' town." She obviously has no concept of how long a day is...
If she doesn't want to hear what you've said, she'll reply multiple times in a row with a high pitched, drawn out, ever-so-innocent, "Whaaaaaaaaaaat?" For example:
me: Addy it's time to go to bed now.
addy: Whaaaaaaaaaaat?
me: It's time to go to bed. c'mon
addy: Whaaaaaaaaaat?
me: Let's go upstairs. It's time for bed.
addy: Whaaaaaaaaaat?
me: You heard me, c'mon
addy: Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
could go on and on and on....
On a similar note, if there is anything that we ever say "what" to while she's talking it goes something like this:
me: addy, should we buy some celery?
addy: no, that's yucky
me: whaaaaaat!?
addy: you heard me. (said more like, you hud me)
We had our temple recommends out on our dresser and they are both in the holders with pictures of the temples on the outside. Addy saw it one day and got so excited, "A castle!" she said.
November {2011}:
Addy was playing in the bathtub and looked at her hand, the held it out with a concerned look on her face and said, "Uh oh, mama. I have raisins on my hands."
I asked her if she wanted to go to the store with me to go shopping where she could get some candy if she was a good girl. (love macey's). She said, "No. I want candy at home."
October {2011}:
Addy was watching Toy Story where the boy is having a birthday party and she turned to me and said, "I wanna party. I wanna eat cake. I wanna birthday party." I think she had a really good time at her birthday party last month. She still wants "More Belle cake"
Lately, she has gotten really sentimental (which makes up somewhat for never wanting to cuddle as a baby). She always says, "By you, mama." and has to sit or lay literally so we are touching. She also said for the first time the other day, "Wuv you mama." Melts my heart...
She loves girly things including lip gloss and chapstick. Seth brought home a "goody bag" full of unilever products from a job conference. Addy took out some deodorant, opened it, and started putting it on her lips! (Luckily, it had the plastic protector still)
September {2011}:
I have always worked hard at teaching Addy to be polite. She always says "Peeease!" when she wants something. Lately, she has started politely refusing, saying, "No, Peeease." We're still working on the thank you.
When Addy turned two this month, I asked her on her birthday how old she was and she replied, "2 minutes." Anytime anyone asks her now, this is her response...
She has a Minnie Mouse doll that she has to take EVERYWHERE. I think it's cute that she is constantly talking to it. "C'mon Minnie. Sit down Minnie. Here a go Minnie."
August {2011}:
I asked Addy if we should do pigtails in her hair and she said no, she wanted horsey tails!
Lately, when we ask her a question like, "Addy, do you want a banana?" She replies, "YES. I do. I do. I do" while energetically nodding her head.
When Seth or I get back from work we always give kisses to each other and to Addy. The other day when I got home as Seth and I were kissing, Addy slapped both hands over her eyes. Where does she learn this stuff?
July {2011}:
When Addy wants her daddy and he's not in the room, she yells "dadda...DADDA...SETH!" She may or may not yell his name like I do to get his attention. He may or may not be happy about it.
She woke up yesterday morning and said "Where's Seth?"
Seth went in to Addy a couple mornings ago and she folded her arms for a prayer. After it was over she said "more?" and folded her arms again, so they said another prayer
She started reading books herself. This consists of talking gibberish a mile and a half a minute mingled with some familiar words like, "animals, happy, sad, Belle, beast, duck, clock, sheep, book, apple, etc, etc, etc" sooo funny to listen to, it sounds like another language!
A few days ago when she woke up she went straight to her closet, tapped her chin and said "hmmmm"...I guess she was trying to decide what to wear.
Addy wrote all over the couch cushion with a ball-point pen while I was upstairs for 7 seconds. I came back down and she pointed to it and said "ah oh, NO NO!"
