24th of July Weekend

Sorry this post took so long to put up. Our camera ran out of batteries before we had a chance to take any pictures so we've been trying to gather pictures from other people...

We had such a fantastic weekend! Little to no sleep, and lots of fun. Last Thursday, the 24th we set out for Fairview at 4:30 in the morning...we got there just in time for the big pioneer day parade. Seth's whole family was able to come down and experience a true "small town" celebration. We collected tons of candy at the parade (and by we, I mean Seth and his little brother Stockton--he kept shouting "tandy tandy"). My parents hosted a BBQ, then the men went golfing. The 24th of July isn't complete without attending the Fairview demolition derby and firework show. It was so much fun and thanks to my mom we had awesome seats! (For those not familiar, tickets go on sale a month in advance and sell out within an hour--she was first pick in the lotto!)
These pictures of the derby are from a couple years ago--but you get the idea

On Friday, we were able to attend the Manti temple with my family and eat dinner at Fat Jack's Pizza (I guess technically it's Roy's now, but it will always be Fat Jack's to me)

Saturday, we had a family party for my Grandma and Grandpa Anderson who just celebrated 50 years of marriage! I put together a video for them (and if I may say so, it was awesome!) It was so fun to see all the old pictures of them growing up and of their young family. My grandparents have always been such a great example to me and they still care so much about things going on in my life. I have so many great memories with them, I loved living so close to them growing up. I can only hope to raise my family as well as they have raised theirs, they are amazing!

We also HAD to go to the drive-in movie theatre for old times sake. (We watched Hancock--ehh)
Sunday morning we went to my aunt Carolyn and uncle Lee's homecoming. They just got back from serving as mission president's in Roseville, California. Seth was especially excited, because after 5 years of marriage, and missing all the wrong family functions, he was finally able to meet and hang out with L. Tom Perry (my uncle's father).

We left early Monday morning to get back to our life and jobs in Las Vegas. Our weekends in Utah always go by way too fast!

Memories

Here is a fun little game...Leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time, or a long time, anything you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.On your mark...get set...blog your memories!!

What am I going to get gotten going on?

So here's a post from the other half, the lesser heard from on the blog. (Which is ok because she's the better half anyway.) Like Linz said, I'm continuing to work as the Manager for Mirage Technical Services and Bellagio Exposition Services for the time being. The next two semesters are going to be tough though as UNLV hasn't accepted a few more credits that would have really helped me out, making it much tougher to get done by next spring. I'll do my best, and we'll see what happens.

So that's what I'm up to, short and sweet. Work, school, and winning radio contests. Las Vegas contests have been good to us since we moved here. It started with Lindsay winning a New Years Kanye West concert 3 years ago and since then we've won a good many things from more concerts to a 42" Plasma, eight 2-day passes to Disneyland, a Nintendo Wii, you know, the uzh. Most recently we went to a Natasha Bedingfield concert at the House of Blues. (Thanks to KLUC, We love the Morning Zoo! lol) It was a way good concert, and we weren't more than 10 yards from the stage! We also won tickets to an exclusive premier of Batman: The Dark Night that shows tonight, but we can't go because we have YM/YW Activities. (Come to think of it, we still need to find someone to give the tickets to.)

So that's my post, ok, peace out.

I Survived

Many of you have asked me what the plan is now that I'm graduated. Are we moving back to Utah or are we staying in Las Vegas? The answer my friends, is that we are staying in Sin City, the entertainment capital of the world, the city of lights (AKA Las Vegas). I am working for CVS pharmacy (Green Valley & Horizon for you locals) and Seth will be finishing his bachelor's degree at UNLV.

I have to say that I survived my first 14 hour shift yesterday...yes 14 hours!!! During the weekdays, the pharmacy is open from 8 AM to 10 PM and only one pharmacist covers the entire shift. Thank you to my friend Karen who brought me lunch and kept checking in on me to make sure I was ok. And thanks to Seth and Ben who stopped by to say hi (or to sit in the massage chair, not sure which)...Anyway here's to many more 14 hour days!!!

It's Official

3 years of grueling graduate school, 78 tests (give or take a few), required >90% on all tests and assignments, 4 awesome friends (with 4 supportive husbands), >2000 hours of free labor, 6 digits of tuition, countless hours of studying, 1 PharmD degree, and 2 Board tests (MJPE & NAPLEX)

= 1 LICENSE!!!

I just found out today that I passed my boards, I am now officially a licensed, registered pharmacist! No more school, no more tests, no more studying 24/7, no more free labor! Thanks to all of you who have helped out along the way and supported me in this goal.

Did Anyone Else Notice This?

So Seth and I went grocery shopping a couple of days ago. It's been a couple months since we've had cold and creamy ice-cream, so we were definitely craving some of our favorite Dreyer's. We each picked out a flavor (Seth--Limited Edition Root Beer Float; me--Loaded Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup; mmmmm) and as we reached into the freezer we noticed something:

THE CARTON IS SMALLER!!!

It's now only 1.5 quarts, instead of 2...but, of course the price is still the same! Downsizing is nothing but a sneaky price increase. And it's happening with everything: cereal, chips, mayonnaise, and even paper towels don't have as many sheets! Do they think we don't notice these things? What's next, buying a gallon of milk in a "convenient" 3 quart size? Am I the only one that's bothered by all of this?
