March is marching by

I was inspired by Cassie's quick update on her blog and realized that it's been quite a while...So here's a recap of the happenings at our house:

1. Still pregnant, out of the first trimester, feeling tons better, we find out in 2 weeks: boy or girl, and officially can't fit into many of my pants...

2. Still working 44 (sometimes more) hours a week, which means I sleep when I should clean the house when I'm not working (which explains why I haven't blogged much lately)...

3. Seth joined a professional business fraternity at UNLV (alpha kappa psi); perhaps you will see video of him soon singing, "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" at a fraternity karaoke night...He also got to be a part of a "flash mob" for United Way on the Las Vegas Strip a couple of weeks ago. You can youtube it by using "flash mob united way las vegas" if you want...

4. Seth graduates with his bachelor's degree from UNLV in MAY!

5. We bought two tickets to Europe for a trip in May with Scott & Cassie...sooo excited!

6. Finally, not too long ago our Sunday sleep-in time was rudely interrupted to the sound of our neighbor pounding on our door, windows, and frantically ringing the doorbell wanting us to turn our water off! How Rude!!! Okay, to be fair, our water heater basically exploded and flooded her house, so maybe...just maybe she had good reason...

I am 12 weeks...due Sept 7 (which just so happens to be labor day;)
We couldn't be more excited!

I'm finally starting to get the hang of this coupon thing...

I am pretty darn excited that I just bought $116.92 worth of groceries for only $37.21!!! That's a whopping 68% savings! (and I'm still a beginner). In addition, I get $12.50 off my next purchase and .10 cents off per gallon of gasoline! Thanks Albertsons!

One year older and wiser too...

Seth has successfully completed another year of his life! We celebrated last night with a few friends and had a fantastic time! We are so blessed to have such great friends...Thanks everyone!

Late Christmas post...

So I am realizing that it is already the middle of January and I haven't posted anything since before Christmas...that's probably not a good way to start the new year...oh well though!

Short recap (but lots of pictures)
We were able to escape Las Vegas for a whole week and go to Utah...We stayed at Seth's house first:
We went sledding with Stockton...We played a song from the nutcracker suite using different instruments. We have this on video but can't get it to work yet, it's something that you just gotta see! (we were way better than Kim's 2nd graders that performed it! haha)...
Seth's family got some cool little scooter/car thingys and we had a blast riding those around...





We then drove down to my house in this: (we were going to wait, but found out it wasn't snowing in Fairview or Cedar Hills and the freeways were clear...)
We opened presents...

We got pulled behind the 4-wheeler in the snow. There was a lot of powder so it wasn't working as well as it has before (and it was freezing cold)...

They all played guitars...
And took naps...
We were able to see some extended family that we haven't seen in years! It was so nice to be able to see our families and celebrate Christmas with them! Usually we just have to make quick weekend trips, but it was great to be able to stay a little longer this time!

Big News!

It's a Christmas miracle! (And no, I'm not pregnant.) Snow is actually falling in Las Vegas!!! None of those little snow flurries; we're talking serious, stick to the ground, Utah-style snow. They are saying that it hasn't snowed like this since 1979, so this is definitely a rare occurrence. We had to take some pictures of this historic occasion. I mean, how often do you see a palm tree with snow on it? There is at least 4 inches outside our house and it is still coming down. We have noticed that the trees are pretty wimpy when it comes to handling the snow...many of them are drooping all the way to the ground with the weight of it.

Seth here, and I have to add a small rant to this post. Not because of the super crazy snowfall in Vegas (I actually think it's kinda cool), but because of the freakin' Las Vegas-ites that can't drive in it. I work 5 miles away from home, takes about 10 minutes to get to work. On the worst day it takes MAYBE 15-20 minutes. . . . or so I thought. I got out of work early to start driving home, and left around 4:22pm. It took me an hour to get home!!! And I don't mean that metaphorical hour that is an over-exagerated expression meaning it took a long time. I didn't get home till 5:29pm!!!!!!!!!! I mean c'mon people, it's just snow! I know you're probably thinking, "well there must have been some accident taking up all the lanes in the road." You'd think. . . . but you'd be wrong. I didn't see one accident, not one single flashing light the whole way! There was actually a time while sitting at a red light where I started to nod off. I was freakin' falling asleep people!!! Ok, that felt good. Back to Linz . . .

So besides the crazy drivers, the snow really gets us excited to celebrate Christmas in Utah with our families (let's just hope it isn't snowing when we have to drive home).
