I have been working on a few projects in the garage outside and to keep Addy entertained/busy I gave her an old paint brush and a cup of water and she "painted" the sidewalk for hours. She LOVED it!


I got down an old doll cradle from my loft for Addy to play with. She was supposed to be taking a nap and when I checked on her she was trying to sleep in the cradle.

Addy came downstairs from her nap one day and she thought she was so funny because she put a sock on her hand.

We tried to get a picture on the trunk, but this elephant was making some freaky noises and Addy was scared out of her wits!

Stockton wasn't scared.

I have to say that I got a killer deal for all of us at the zoo. I knew that my Seattle Zoo yearly pass I bought this summer got discounts to other zoos, but had no idea it was so much! We even got a discount on food once we got inside...I think my mother-in-law was very impressed.

I love how none of them are looking at the camera. Also Addy & Stockton's arms are around each other. so cute.

Train Ride! Addy looks scared, but she loved it! She wanted nothing but more, more, more when it was over.

First and only time so far that Addy has fallen asleep while eating!

Halloween

I don't know who had more fun trick-or-treating, Seth or Adalyn. More than once Seth made some sort of comment like, "Wow, this is greater than I ever imagined!" It was a fun night, the weather was perfect and hearing Addy's cute little voice saying "twick o tweet" and "tank you" at every door was just precious! She loved knocking on all the doors! Not to mention, she was rockin' her costume...We went with a safari theme this year. Addy was a cheetah, I was a tigress, and Seth was a safari dude. We were never all in our costumes at the same time though, bummer.

We went to the MBA Halloween party, where Seth was supposed to meet us...but, he got tied up at school so he never made it!

Addy and I met up with a friend and went trick-or-treating down Main Street in SF a few days before Halloween. Of all the candy she got, the thing she reached for to eat first was her APPLE! That-a-girl.

Catch-Up

There have been a few big events that I have neglected to post about (because I've neglected the blog...) So, here's a little ketchup:

I mean, CATCH-UP. Haha...

Our sweet baby, Adalyn turned TWO! If you ask her, she's "2 minutes." I cooked her chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and she was in heaven. Heck, so was I. It was the first time I'd ever tried them too. They were good.

We had a little family party for her. She kept saying she wanted a "Beast-a-paaardy" Which translated means Beauty and the Beast. It was fitting, seeing as she has been obsessed with that movie since she developed her love for watching TV.

I got her a Belle dress, and a Belle cake and we decorated the house for a princess. {side note: going along with the theme, Addy loves to dance with her dad. It's the sweetest thing you've ever seen. She says "Dadda Beast, Addy Belle." And then he sings the song to her and they dance all around the room. So precious!)

Before the guests arrived, I wanted to take a picture of Addy/Belle. I took a few:

This is a progression of her many faces. In the first ones, I told her to smile; so naturally, she gave me her dirty glare look. So then I did the good ol' reverse psychology (wow, that's a tough one to spell.) I told her, "Don't smile. Don't you dare smile..." And what do you know, a big grin appears. This girl definitely has some "Addy-tude"

Addy kept snitching little bits of frosting while we were singing to her. (another sidenote: that reminds me that she has also begun snitching her food during the prayer. She squints her eyes like they're closed but reaches out to her food and slyly grabs some and sticks in it her mouth-maybe we shouldn't put food in front of her until after the prayer?)

I tried to cut the cake for her so she wouldn't just eat the frosting. She wouldn't have it and put it right back in it's place and continued devouring the frosting.

And of course, this little bug got completely worn out from all the partying, dancing, and sugar. She fell asleep with balloons in her hands...

Moving on from birthdays...

We've made quite a few trips to grandma & grandpa's house since I'm trying to finish a project there. Here's my little diva on one of the car rides:

We have all enjoyed the bounteous harvest that a garden brings. Especially when you don't have to weed it! ;) G-ma & g-pa are kind enough to share with us. Addy likes to eat tomatoes and peas straight off the vine! We have also enjoyed apples! We have made applesauce, pie filling, and dehydrated apples. I also canned 2 bushels of peaches! The things I do for this girl...

Addy & I went to Gardner Village with some MBASA friends.

Sometimes she didn't know what to think of the witches...

Can't forget FOOTBALL! Seth and I have season tickets again this year and it's so much fun sitting by all of our friends. We brought Addy to one of the games. At first, she was super intimidated by all the people and noise in the stadium. She warmed up eventually though and had a good time. Until after half time she said "Go home now." She had had enough. The next day, though, she said, "More football? I wanna see football." Making her dad very proud.

She loved the fight song and clapped her hands with everyone else.

Perspective

Time flies! I feel like since we got back from the summer that we hit the ground running and haven't slowed down! It makes me miss the leisure time we had in Seattle over the summer. Seth was super busy with work and projects, but I feel like I saw him a lot more than I do now.

We have both been so busy between church callings, work, school, job conferences, interviews, business trips, MBASA activities, projects, ADDY...I feel like there are so many days when Seth gets home from school and I'm running out the door as he comes in! Don't get me wrong, we are both really enjoying this last year of MBA school and being in Utah near our families. We have been so blessed with many opportunities and new friends since moving here over a year ago. Not everything has happened the way we thought it should, or planned on; but we are grateful for the perspective we've gained and lessons we have learned thus far. It is truly wonderful that we have a Heavenly Father who knows us and is mindful of even the little things in our life and that he has a plan for all of us.

One of my favorite things about the MBA program at BYU has been that it's not only Seth that has been getting educated and improving. I feel like I too am getting more educated. We're both in this. There are so many classes and workshops and park days and book clubs and get togethers with the MBA spouses (or widows, hehe). {Think Relief Society on major steroids} I get to learn so much from amazing women and make great friends in the process. So while we're both super crazy busy, I know that we are both trying to take full advantage of the opportunities that we get to have here, because there will be nothing else like it. I can't believe that there is only 6 months left!

The Final Hours

I think you could successfully say, "We came, we saw, we conquered."

I had my doubts about coming to Seattle for the summer.

I love the sun.

I have spent the last 5 years in 110-115 degree weather in Las Vegas with blue skies almost every day.

The weather here has been surprisingly nice, cool, perfect on most days. Pleasant.

I think I have fallen in love with Seattle. This has been one of the greatest summers ever.

I told everyone I was going to treat it as a 12 week vacation, and I have!

I haven't had to worry about work, church callings (lessons, activities, girls camp), housework, or projects.

All of that is anxiously waiting for me to get back. It's nice to be missed sometimes :)

I am leaving sunny Seattle this evening. Addy and I are flying home a few days early because they really need me at work (how great is it that they let me keep my job?!)

Seth has absolutely loved Amazon.

It was so challenging, yet so fulfilling.

He received some excellent experience here that will definitely help him down the road.

I am so proud of how well he has done.

Who knows, maybe we'll be back here next year for a full-time position?

Yes, I think I'm going to miss this place.

Especially:

the cleaning service that comes every other week,

the sacrament bread in the ward here
(some lady makes some sort of Ethiopian bread EVERY Sunday that is AHHHmazing),

the gorgeous view of Lake Union that I get to see everyday from our apartment,

cool summer weather,

the many parks, zoo, and activities that are so near.

I guess it's time to get back to the real world.

There are a lot of fun parks here. We have one near our house that has a wading pool. Addy loves it!

Riding up the hill backwards with mom chasing you is a lot more fun!

We didn't end up seeing any whales, but it was beautiful to be there anyway! Seth was in heaven on the way home because we got to drive along side not 1, not 2, but 3 DeLoreans (back to the future cars) on the way home on the freeway for about an hour. You have to know Seth...this is one of his "dream" cars. You also have to know that he and his best friend have been planning to drive their DeLoreans down the road side by side since middle school...He was ecstatic! haha...

We are so glad we had some visitors this summer! Thanks again, mom and dad! We look forward to getting some grandma and grandpa G time in when we get back to Utah!

Kla Ha Ya Days

A couple weekends ago, we found out about a little celebration in Snohomish, about 45 minutes North of us. We decided to get out of the city and check it out. We actually really enjoyed it; of course nothing beats the small town Fairview parade and celebration on the 24th of July, but it was a decent. We arrived early and found a spot on the parade route.

The lady standing next to us, crammed her way in as the parade was starting. Then, she had the nerve to ask Seth to move a little so she could see better. Twice! haha...if my husband wasn't such a gentleman, she would have received an ear full. We were in the Kla Ha Ya spirit so we tried to tolerate her.

The parade was interesting. Anything that combines dancing mariachi horses, Star Wars characters, and fun animals is a good time.

We ate some yummy local fare while listening to an awesome singer

This small town has over 500 antique dealers. There were awesome shops everywhere!

We browsed the streets and had a great time seeing all the fun games and activities they had going on at the street fair including: frog racing, pie and ice cream eating contests (seth totally would have entered except they were for kids), seed spitting contests, water hose tug o war, & sawdust treasure hunts

We went to the Senior Citizen Center where they were hosting Bingo. I only got to play one card because Addy was getting super tired, but I could totally play Bingo all day. It was awesome! I wonder if I could go play with my local seniors back home?

If you were wondering what the heck Kla Ha Ya means, we wondered the same thing. At first we thought it had something to do with frogs since that seemed to be a big part of the day; however, we found it was an old indian saying meaning welcome or hello!

You can't have summer without going to at least one parade or festival, so we're satisfied now!

Busy as a Beaver

Addy has been enjoying her summer, this is just a few things she has been up to:

Learning to pose for the camera (sometimes)

Becoming so tired that she can take a nap anywhere

playing with friends at the zoo

Finding leaves, sticks and rocks

Pushing her own stroller instead of riding in it

Looking at her favorite animals

Acting like her favorite animals

Singing and playing with made up toys (like hangers)

Finding new places to hide

Trying to take her clothes off...

The above picture may require some explanation. Seth and I were beginning to wonder if Addy was getting too hot during the nights in her blanket sleeper pajamas. Since I didn't bring any others with us I decided to just put her in some comfy pants and a long sleeve shirt. I woke up to her like this, with one arm out. She apparently didn't like it. Even when I fixed it, she immediately did the same thing.

On a similar note, as we were sitting in church last Sunday, she handed me a diaper. At first, I thought she had just gotten in my purse and grabbed one, however, upon further investigation found out that she had in fact removed it from under her dress! Luckily it was still clean! Yikes!

Anytime we are around water or sand Addy is in her happy place:

Family Pictures

When my family was all together again for the first time in 2+ years we decided to get family pictures done:

This was a difficult endeavor with 2 babies, 1 of which HATES taking pictures (ahem...addy...)

She did her best to not comply with anything we did; including multiple tantrums, screams, and arching of her back. It was not pleasant for anyone. But we did manage to get a few we could work with.

Another Endeavor

Many of you know that after we moved back to Utah and Seth started school, I was able to cut back at the Pharmacy.

I loved my new found free time and freedom!

and the opportunity to be home with Addy :)

I had the time and energy to actually get things done around the house and do what I WANTED to do.

For a long time now, I have contemplated on starting another blog to keep track of my "projects".

Being in Seattle for the summer has been the perfect opportunity to get things rolling, (not having some of my other distractions around)...Long story short, I did it!

I started another blog.

Anyway, I would love for you to check it out!

It's still new, there is lots more I plan to add.

Beaches and Baseball

I don't think I was truly converted to loving Seattle until I went to the beach. Addy and I met up with with some other BYU families one afternoon at Alki. It was a gorgeous day and Addy had lots of fun throwing rocks, and spent lots of time putting sand and rocks into a bucket. I think she could do that all day! We could both be beach bums for the rest of our lives and be happy! The area we went to was pretty rocky, but there are sandy areas there as well...

I took a few pictures with my camera that I left outside while in Utah...it doesn't quite work as well, don't mind the big blurry circle in the middle of the pictures, I dealt with what I had! (by the way, just got a new camera I'm excited to try out)

I loved it so much that I took Seth back later that week for a date night :) We ate at a fun little Mexican Restaurant and sat and dazed into each other's eyes while watching the sunset. Okay, not really...we got cold so we couldn't stay for the whole sunset...

We're also not too far from Golden Gardens beach, which I think I actually like better than Alki...our ward had a BBQ there a few weekends ago, and we spent part of last Saturday there enjoying a picnic. It has lots of nice sand :) Of course I don't have any pictures...

We went to a Mariner's game for family night a couple weeks ago. Addy got a free hat, and I also got one...they are children's hats, but Seth told me I could pull it off. haha...

Addy thought that the stairs were her own, personal seat. She enjoyed herself.

Did we win? Nope. But we had a great time!

Utah Utah Utah!

It started with a plane ride with the babe and myself...

Sea-Tac airport has these little fish paths throughout, it really helped Addy stay on course!

luckily there was an empty seat in the middle (why doesn't anyone want to sit next a baby on a plane? haha)

Seth flew back right after the wedding luncheon. Addy and I stayed for a few more days. We took a day to go see grandma & grandpa G. Aunt Sharley was also visiting, we went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point.

The previous 2 pictures are taken with my phone because I couldn't find my camera. Guess what, turns out I left it outside for a couple days! Booooo :( Good news is that it still works after drying out and the full SD card was still usable; bad news is, it doesn't take as good as pictures as it used to...

Utah was a blast! The trip back was a little more challenging with some airplane delays, however, we were excited to return to Seattle to finish our summer adventures!

BIG girl!

No, I'm not going to tell you that my 21 month old is potty-trained. I would love it if she was, but we're just not quite to that point yet...

A little backstory:

Adalyn has always HATED the "pack-n-play"

At home in her crib, she was such a good sleeper, lay her down and she goes right into a peaceful sleep

Lay her down in the pack-n-play and she FIGHTS it, screams, bangs on the sides, screams, etc...and then falls asleep

side note: you can't even put her in there after she is already asleep. she has some sort of sixth sense and ALWAYS wakes up and screams

You can see the problem we were faced with when we moved to Seattle. Obviously, we couldn't bring her cushy crib

After about a week of her fighting and me fighting every nap time and bedtime, and wondering if our close-proximity-sharing-a-wall-neighbors absolutely hated us...we decided to try something new

Enter: the twin bed

Adalyn loved sleeping on this...it was a whole new world

The first night, she did great!

I slept on the other bed in the room in case she fell off, but was pleasantly surprised when I wasn't needed

The next night, I was wakened in my bed by a big THUD!

I ran into Addy's room and she was standing next to her bed with her little head tilted, resting on the mattress and she just moaned a tired little "ah oh..."

She was so tired and fell back asleep instantly. I decided I better sleep in her room again on the bed next to her to prevent more falls...or so I thought...

Twice more, during the night she just slipped right off the bed and there was nothing I could do in my slumbering state to prevent it!

Good news, she didn't get any scrapes or bruises...I try to be a good mother, I do.

So the next day we decided to take off the box springs and rails and just have the mattress on the floor. Guess we should have just done that to begin with?

Works wonderfully!

Also works wonderfully to threaten her with sleeping in the pack-n-play crib if she doesn't want to lay down :)

We worried that she would get out of bed and run around getting into mischief, happy to say so far she has been an angel! She doesn't even get up when she wakes up, she just calls for me!

Zoo & the best burgers in Seattle?

Addy and I got a zoo pass for the summer! It is such an amazing zoo! Addy likes the animals, but she also really liked collecting sticks and rocks along the way.

She really liked to sit on this lizard thing...she screamed when we removed her so other kids could have a turn

Seth is LOVES a good burger. He also likes any place that is rated for their food, so we had to try out:

This little place has amazing burgers and onion rings, and was mentioned in GQ mag as well as on the Oprah Winfrey show...although, the thing that sold Seth was that it was on Man v. Food :)

The wait was long...but the food was pretty amazing!

Tight spaces

Just found this post that I did over a MONTH ago that apparently never got officially posted! haha...For your reading pleasure, I'll post it anyway:

Addy and I finally decided to venture out of the apartment complex yesterday by ourselves. I think we were both going a little stir-crazy. I found a cute little playground park fairly close to us. We drove there and I learned how to treat a 6-way stop...YES. SIX ways. side-note: driving here is pretty crazy...that is part of the reason it took me 4 days to get up the guts to do it; not gonna mention the 2 times we got lost on our way home using GPS. (One of the main streets we live on is blocked from the other side of traffic...for like 10 miles...meaning you can't turn left anywhere). Anyway, it was a cute park and it was nice to get out, until it started to rain...

Coming home, I was a pro at the 6-way and came into our garage. We had been assigned parking space #66. It says "compact car" on our space. I don't really think that our car classifies as "compact". Does anyone even know the definition of "compact car"? Maybe I'll have to look that up. Anyway, we have been scared every time we go in and out of the car because in #67 there is a nice, yellow Porsche and in #65 there is a shiny white BMW. When we went to church on Sunday, Seth shimmied in through the passenger side and climbed over to the driver's seat then backed the car out carefully and I put the babe and myself in the car. (This is the other reason I have been scared to drive anywhere by myself...) I kept thinking it was going to be a long summer of doing this and put it in the back of my mind to see if we could get a different spot.

When we left, I was relieved to see the Porsche gone so it was very easy to get in the car. When we came home it was another story. Both cars were in their spots. I tried parking 3 times and almost had it, but then realized that it would be NEARLY impossible to get me out of the car and IMPOSSIBLE to get my toddler out if I went through with it. Long story short, I made up my own spot back outside in the rain, went to the leasing office and demanded that they give me a different spot. Okay, I didn't really demand...and they were really nice about it and now I have a corner spot that is the farthest possible stall but I can open both sides of my car doors fully! YAY!

SEATTLE!

We made it to Seattle! Seth started an internship for the summer with Amazon. He is working in the consumer electronics division...that's about all I know, or want to explain right now, haha. Anyway, we're here for the summer, which is the BEST time to be here. My awesome job is letting me take work off, so I'm treating this as a 12 week vacation! We took our time driving here, as we didn't know how Addy would be in the car. We stayed a night in Boise. Seth went in to check in to the hotel and found his name on a sign for customer of the day! When he asked what that meant at the desk they said we got a free room upgrade! SaWeet! I mean, SUITE! It was really nice.

We could have easily done the trip in 2 days but after driving another 6 hours the following day we stayed in Yamika, WA. It was nice, but hard to stay in after you've been "guest of the day". Also, Addy doesn't do that great in hotels. It's hard to not sleep in your own bed. And I don't feel comfortable letting her cry with the paper thin walls. After we got to Seattle I was getting her ready for bed and she kept saying "home, home" Poor girl. Luckily, after 1 night she was adjusted and sleeps like "home".

Spring, at last?

We took Addy to Hogle Zoo in February when they had free day. It was fun, but I'm glad we didn't have to pay! We saw everything in about 1 1/2 hours. Seth and I both remember the zoo being a lot bigger, but I guess they have a whole part under construction. (plus, we just remember it from when we were kids so it probably seemed bigger back then)

She also loves balls, so she got excited whenever she saw with one of the animals. The tiger was especially exciting because he was actually playing with his. (didn't get a picture though)

Daddy taught her to put her lips together and make an elephant sound. She's actually really good at it

Just wanted to post some pictures! I haven't taken any with my camera FOREVER, so these are off my phone. Adalyn is 18 months old!

She can officially go to nursery now (although RSV has been going around so we may hold off)

She goes and plays in another nursery that no one else is in, that will work for another couple weeks.

Just no classes yet for mom and dad:)

She is growing so fast! I swear she says 3 or 4 new words a day.

She continues to make me laugh throughout the day.

She loves getting her fingernails painted.

She's more cuddly and shares hugs and kisses all the time :)

She is also very bossy.

She knows what she wants and when she wants it.

She still loves to get her groove on and dances whenever she hears music

She likes to jump on the bed

We went to Sam's Club last week.

Lately it has been a fight to keep her in the shopping cart.

She likes to help push it or go off on her own.

Well, she finally found a place in the cart she liked, sitting on the box of wipes!

I thought it was so cute and got my phone out to take a picture and all of a sudden she says,

"CHEESE!" and smiled.

First time she's ever said it.

I was amazed.

It's the littlest things they do that are so monumental.

Maybe it's because we're still new at this...

We got so excited when she learned all of her animal sounds.

It's such a big deal when they learn where their body parts are,

and when they can read part of a book,

and say words like "duck, book, beast, shoes, socks...etc"

She is like a little sponge just absorbing everything she can.

There is so much to learn, it's so exciting to watch her discover the world around her!

I never thought I would be a BYU fan...I still don't know if I am, but since Seth bought season tickets to all the BYU games it's kinda grown on me. (see, I even have a BYU shirt) We have had a blast going to all the games together and today is the LAST home game.
At the first game, Seth was introduced to the "brat tail" by his friend and fellow classmate Rhett...It consists of a foot long bratwurst inside a cougar tail (maple bar). There's only one place in the whole stadium that sells them and it was love at first bite. He is so excited to partake again, so if anyone wants to meet up for a half-time brat-tail let us know! As for me, I think I'll stick with what I know, and that's Norbest Sanpete style turkey...yum yum! (Oh and thanks again Aunt Rita)

We are loving the fall weather here in Utah. Although, I'm really really afraid for the snow! We have had an excellent couple of weeks. Here's a bunch of picture to prove it:

We had a girls (& stockton) night during the Priesthood session of conference and went to Gardner Village. It was PACKED!!! A few other people may have had the same idea...

Sunday afternoon was a gathering at the Gonzalez household which involved yummy enchiladas, beans and rice and cousins and family we hadn't seen for a while

Addy won't cuddle with me, but she does with grandma G! (Hey, I rhymed)

Addy is really starting to gain walking confidence

She is so much fun and makes me laugh everyday!

She started doing this crazy cheesy grin where she shows all her teeth and her nose wrinkles, it's hilarious but I haven't been able to capture it on camera yet...so stay tuned!

She also head butts and thinks it is so funny, it seriously hurts!

She likes to talk on the phone and pretend like she's talking on the phone, she says hi and bu-bye and just plain mumbles while holding the phone and anything else to her ear...good thing we have about 4 extra cell phones lying around that she can play with, I guess that's a plus of Seth going swimming with his phones! ;)
(I secretly think he's trying to get her to break the phone he has now so he can get a new one, he gives it to her all the time and lets her press whatever buttons she wants and throw it on the ground...I'm just sayin')

She has developed a bit of an ear fetish and plays with her ear when she's tired or drinking a bottle

As for the rest of us...
Seth is crazy busy with school, trying to find an internship, studying, playing intramural soccer, & interviews

I am getting projects done left and right but I feel like I have more and more to add. I guess I haven't posted about my furniture refinishing kick going on...don't worry I have a bunch of before pics that maybe I'll get around to posting one day. I also got called to the YW presidency a few weeks ago...whoo hoo

I think I finally figured out what we're all going to be for Halloween! Doesn't quite top last year, but it'll be fun!

We had a fantastic weekend! We enjoyed an afternoon at the cabin for my brother, Zac and my mom's birthday dinner. It is so pretty on the mountain right now. Seriously, it was like the leaves were so vibrant yellow that they were smacking me in the face on the drive up. The weather was perfect!

Addy started saying grandpa earlier this week! I went down and canned some peaches with my mom, so my dad got to pay some special attention to Adalyn while we were working. He took her out to see the horses (hee hees), llamas, chickens, rooster, and whatever else lives in our neighbors back yard. He played with her and the dog all afternoon. The next day when I mentioned grandpa, she lit up and said, "pamp-pa?" and has been saying it ever since.

We were all entertained by watching Addy and the dog eat cheerios off grandpa's knee.

Did I mention it is my mom's 50th birthday? (today, actually...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!)
I made a little scrapbook from all the kids of 50 reasons why we love her...even though she wanted an ipod, I think it was a hit ;)

I'm NOT going to start off this post by saying what a blog slacker I am because it seems like I do that in every post now...

BIG NEWS:

Adalyn turned 1 year old! Yes, it's already been a whole year since this "little" 10 pound chunkster found her way into our lives!

She is getting so big! (ok, she started off big)... She started walking by herself a couple weeks ago and is still gaining her confidence. She sticks out her tongue like Michael Jordan and grins the entire time!

Some of her favorites:
- doggies--she LOVES dogs, can say the word perfectly, pants like a dog, pretty much thinks every animal is a dog, and likes to pat dogs...when we are outside and she hears a dog bark from blocks away she reaches for it, gasps excitedly, and says "doggie!"

- she also says, "pup pup" (the name of my parents dog--yeah, it's name is pup...haha)

- when she is hungry (or sees other people eating) she makes tasting sounds by smacking her lips together

- she likes eating whatever anyone else is eating and always scrounges for food

- loves to play peek-a-boo and pat-a-cake

- isn't afraid of anyone (not even uncle Steve, haha) and will go to anyone willingly

- likes to pat...example: last week at stake conference she went up to a guy who was sitting a couple chairs away from me, she put her hand on his leg, looked up at him and proceeded to gently pat his knee (she later did the same thing to his shoulder while she was standing on a chair between us)

- climbing stairs

- anything outside!

Some of my favorites:
- staying home with her!

- her big grin

- her slobbery kisses that she is sometimes stingy with and the big oooo-wha sound she makes

- lately when I get her from naps she first gives me her stuffed doggie, then her blanket, then reaches up for me...melts my heart

- listening to her talk, sing, and play by herself when she is supposed to be taking a nap

- when she comes and tickles my feet or belly and says "ticka ticka ticka ticka"

- when she "cusses"...she mutters things under her breath in a really angry tone...can't help but laugh!

- she is so easy! she still gets everyone's attention when we go out anywhere and has a great demeanor

weight: 19.7 pounds (approx 20th percentile)...when she was born I think she was 99th!
height: 28 inches (approx 20th percentile)
head: 45 (50th percentile)

We took her to an allergist last week who confirmed that she is in fact allergic to milk! (poor thing broke out in hives a couple months ago when she had milk-based formula for the first time) She is also allergic to peanuts. sad. no peanut butter or snickers for her!

Alright, for those of you that haven't given up on this sad sad blog I just wanted to make you aware that WE ARE STILL ALIVE!

It has been a crazy, wild, stress-filled, fun-filled, labor intensive couple of months!

Let's see:

We had to leave the place that we had grown to love and the dear friends that we made...

We left our jobs...

We left the BEST ward in existence...

We left the awesome amazing stores and shopping...

We left the 110 degree weather and swimming pools...

We left the beautiful city of lights...

YES. We miss our dear Las Vegas.Empty condo

But we LOVE:

Cooler weather. Living close to family and old friends. Having a yard. Meeting new people. More space. Knowing our neighbors. Decorating a new house. Taking time off from careers. Starting a new chapter in our lives.

Took my A-bug to the park today for the first time. I have wanted to for a while and decided we had just better do it before it gets deathly hot! She absolutely loved the swing! She giggled that cute little laugh that I adore and had a blast kicking her chubby little legs.

I am realizing that blogging does not play as big of a role in my life as it once did. This makes me sad because it is/was the ONE journalish-slash-scrapbookish thing I was consistently doing. sort of.

Maybe this is due to the fact the desktop computer is in Addy's room and the best time to blog is during naps; but I'm afraid to disturb her.

Or maybe it is because I have to do 101 other things during that time.

It could be because I have been spending all of my computer time looking at houses...and searching for a job. (and looking at other people's blogs when I need a little break...)

Yes, I am busy...but really, who isn't?? So a long overdue update:

Seth:
* counting down the days left until we can move

* trying to finish all his prep work (aka Harvard online courses) for starting school at BYU

* OBSESSED with his corvette, corvette parts, corvette magazines, corvettes on the road, and
oh, did I mention he got a corvette? (We can share that story later)

* Busy with church, scouts, campouts

* finally got a new (old) phone after going swimming with his (again)

* watching and hoping that his beloved Lakers win the NBA championship again

* finally getting over a nasty sprained ankle from playing basketball, which slowed him down a bit from his weekly basketball and softball games

Lindsay:
* still at CVS and wishing it was in Utah so I didn't have to stress so much about finding a job

* back to studying for the MPJE law test to get licensed in Utah

* boxing things up for the move (and for condo reconstruction repairs next week...)

* looking forward to a week long vacation in VA with my family in the coming weeks

* not really looking forward to a 4 1/2 hour plane ride with a baby...(any suggestions?)

* started plans for a new master bedroom design and other projects but then had to put it all on
hold...can't wait for a new house

Adalyn:
* almost 9 months old

* crawling/scooting/rolling all over the floor

* loves cheerios

* has 2 top and 2 bottom teeth

* loves sucking through a straw

* still has a mullet ;) Yup...just can't bring myself to cut it yet

* totally over rice cereal that she once loved and now sticks out her tongue and spits it out (I mean REALLY spits it out with the sound effects and everything)

* when she gets really excited she starts to flap her arms up and down over and over again like she's going to take off flying

* side note: we have been avid lost fans and stuck with it until the end...Seth made all of these "darma initiative" goodies for our own little season finale party! Isn't he so cute?

Sweethearts and Superbowls

We went to Utah this past weekend. My cute grandparents were chosen to receive the annual "Sweetheart" award at the Snow College Institute this year. The institute has chosen a couple each year for the past 33 years who exemplify LDS standards of marriage and family. We went to see them receive their award and listen to the tributes and talks given at the fireside. They have been married for almost 52 years now and are a prime example of what marriage, family, and church service should be. They both served honorable missions and have worked in the Manti temple for the past 22 years!!! I heard some great stories that I never knew about them and enjoyed watching them receive this well-deserved honor. I am so blessed to have them as my grandparents and am grateful for the legacy that they are leaving for me and my family. They are amazing!!! Love you grandma & grandpa!

We were able to meet up with my sister-in-law, Natalie while she was here visiting from Virginia. (she barely made it home between the crazy snowstorms back there) We met for lunch and then the girls (minus Addy) went to a play. We are soooo excited for her and Jared to have their baby in April!

We stayed at Seth's house on Saturday and celebrated his and his brother's birthday by going bowling and eating ice-cream cake!

Stockton seriously won with a score of 158. It was the high score of the night!

I think the next picture is hilarious. Every time I look at it or think of it I bust up laughing...it could have been because I was right there and witnessed it in person. Seth was only slightly aggravated that I took time to find a camera and also bring Stockton over to point at it before I got him a towel to wipe off his face. haha.

(side note: we were having a debate on what was worse because when Addy was first born she squirted poop all over me once (almost twice) while I was changing her diaper...We decided we were even, because poop is worse than spit-up, but face is worse that body...TMI?)

Chillin' before the superbowl started

Seth's family hosts a big Superbowl party each year. It mostly consists of eating yummy food then the men watch the football game while the women sit around the kitchen table talking...We haven't been there for a few years so it was really fun! We left late Sunday night because Seth had to be at work on Monday morning...but the drive was pleasant; Addy slept the WHOLE time and Seth and I had a great conversation. Some of our best conversations have been during the long drives to Utah and back. All in all, excellent weekend!

Adalyn turned 4 months old (a week & 1/2 ago...I'm a bit behind)
She is cute as ever and bringing so much joy into our home! Here's some of my favorite pictures from the last month:

Her hair is almost mullet-esque...it continues to grow and is just shy of 3 inches long

recently learned how to let out a VERY high pitch squeal and does it when she's tired, wants attention, happy, or just wants to hear herself...

found out that pulling mom's hair is super fun and giggles when I'm screaming!

Loves strangers and the attention she gets from them...we can't take her out of the house without people making a fuss over her!
Quick story: we were on our way home from running errands and Addy was tired/hungry, we decided to make one more quick stop for a few groceries. An older lady stopped to give Addy some compliments and Addy started to grin from ear to ear...which in turn made the lady more excited so she kept telling Addy how cute she was... next thing we know, Addy is busting up into the cutest giggles just laughing at the lady! This exchange went back and forth for about 5 minutes...I think it was the most she had ever laughed! We rarely can get her to laugh like that for us but for some reason she does it for complete strangers all the time!

Likes to watch mommy work, clean house, and get ready

Since this has become more of an Adalyn blog lately let me update you on a few other things going on:

Seth and I started P90X together and are on week 3! It's actually been fun (?) working out with him everyday...

I got a new church calling yesterday...Primary pianist! (I have already done that once in this ward...but I love it, it's gotta be the best calling ever...no preparation, no mid-week activities to worry about...LOVE it!!!) Oh, and Seth is in the primary too, teaching the 10-11 year old boys so he gets to help out with the baby! haha

and last but not least...it's someone's birthday today!

'09 rewind

A couple nights ago, Seth and I were looking back at all the posts from this year. It was so fun to reminisce and see what we have done and accomplished over the span of a year...

It was, in fact, exactly a year ago that we discovered our lives were never going to be the same. We found out that I was pregnant. The perfect way to start 2009.

Had a big shebang for Seth's 28th birthday with some of our best friends

Decided that we were going to go to Europe with Seth's brother Scott & his wife Cassie

Started brainstorming and conniving plans for how to tell our families we were expecting

In February...
Cleverly delivered the good news to our families that they would, in fact, be grandparents! (and aunts & uncles)

Let the rest of the world in on our little secret due to arrive on September 7 (which we would later find out was NOT correct!)

Started officially "coupon shopping" which has saved us hundreds or even thousands of dollars!

In March...
Officially bought two tickets to Paris for departure in May

Our water heater chose to erupt and unleash its liquidy contents on the neighbor below us

Paid off my school loans

In April...
We had an ultrasound and found out we were having a GIRL!

Had a rough time finding girl names that we liked...

Spent a girls weekend in Vegas with good friends from high school

In May...
Seth graduated from UNLV with his bachelor's degree

Spent a week in Italy, where I celebrated turning a quarter of century old

Spent a week in the beautiful mountains of Switzerland

In June...
Spent a week in France, concluding what we can say was the best vacation we have been on (so far)

Little brother Nate left for his mission to Texas while we were gone

Attended Seth's 10 year High School Reunion in Pleasant Grove

In July...
Celebrated pioneer day, Fairview style which included the annual parade and demolition derby

Had a couple of baby showers with family and friends while in Utah

Learned that the best place to be in the summer while pregnant is floating in the pool

In August...
Had more baby showers in Vegas with fantastic and thoughtful friends

Prepared for the arrival of our little girl

continued to work 44 hours a week until the end of the month (swollen ankles galore!)

In September...
We finally welcomed our baby, Adalyn, into the world on the 14th

Went to Utah when she was a week and a half old to throw a bridal shower and attend some weddings

Learned that recovery from having a baby (especially if it is 10 pounds) is a lot harder than I thought it would be

in October...
Adjusted to life with a baby

Had fun dressing up for our first Halloween together

Realized how fast babies grow and change

Heard the contagious giggle come out of Addy for the first time

Celebrated Thanksgiving in Utah with Family

A Very Merry Christmas Indeed!

We had our first official Vegas style Christmas. It was great! We started off the festivities with our good friends the Bollards, where we were dubbed Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in an impromptu last minute Christmas story performance on Christmas Eve.

We had a fantastic Christmas morning, just the three of us...Addy didn't quite know what to think, but she sat very content as Seth and I opened all of our Christmas presents (and hers too)...She did love playing with the tissue paper...

My parents and two brothers, Aaron and Zac joined us a little later that morning. We opened presents and to talked to my brother, Nate, who is on a mission in Texas. We joined up with Jared and Natalie in Virginia on skype a little later that afternoon on our new webcam (thanks mom & dad) and congratulated them on their Christmas present...they found out they are having a BOY!!! (due in April) They had their ultrasound a month ago but didn't find out the sex until opening it on Christmas morning...talk about patience! I think I would have sneaked a peak.

My family stayed through the weekend and Addy had so much entertainment she didn't know what to do with herself...I swear everytime she was with grandpa she was squealing with laughter! She isn't used to such a bustling house!
On the day after Christmas, Seth's parent's and Stockton stopped by on their way to California.

My mom was slightly obsessed with Adalyn's hair...she kept sticking things in it...like pipe-cleaners. I think she was going for a reindeer look here?

We did manage to get her hair in a cute little ponytail...pigtails to come shortly!

We had such a great Christmas and are very fortunate to be so blessed. Hope everyone had a great Christmas as well!

3 Months

Adalyn is 3 months old now! Time has gone by so quickly and it is amazing how much she is changing! Here are just a few snapshots from the past couple weeks:

She likes sitting in her bumbo chair...especially if she gets to look at the Christmas tree with all of the pretty lights!

She is better about tummy time now...although by this picture you wouldn't think so! (I noticed her finger after I had already taken it...haha)

She received her first doll and absolutely loves it!

She is fascinated with her hands and if she isn't looking at them then she's got them in her mouth...

Mom has fun during bath-time too! haha

She is still thankfully sleeping through the night for at least 10 hours! She wakes up happy every morning and from most naps...I love going in to see this face! (especially because she gets even more bubbly and kicky when she sees me!)

We've been singing some fun Christmas songs to Addy and she loves them! (Or loves us making fools of ourselves...haha)

It has been an eventful month for us...and I am yet again behind in the blog-o-sphere (I can make up words, right?) 4 of the most significant events were:

1) Seth & I celebrated our 6 year anniversary (went to the cirque show "O" at Bellagio--AMAZING!)
2) Enjoyed Thanksgiving in Utah with our families (2 dinners=yum:)
3) Blessed Adalyn on November 28th while we were still in Utah
4) I went back to work...bleh

Little Miss Addy turned 2 months old on Saturday.

Two BIG things to note that happened on that day:
1) She giggled at her daddy (he has been anxiously waiting to make her laugh)
2) She slept through the ENTIRE night without waking up once!

2 month stats:
weight: 13 pounds 3 ounces (95%)
height: 24 inches (95%)
head: 15 inches (31%)
Yes, we definitely have a chunkster on our hands!

...and my own stat--hair: 2 inches

Addy:

has gorgeous blue eyes and long eyelashes (she gets this from her dad)
likes to put her fists and hands in her mouth (she also gets this from her dad, haha just kidding)
LOVES watching her mobile in the crib and the swing (her face just lights up)
is not losing her baby hair, in fact, it is growing out a lighter color and she has roots! (see picture below)
LOVES to kick, play, and relax in the bathtub and get her hair washed and head massaged
HATES when bathtime is over!
hair is curly when it's wet (see below)
doesn't care much for tummy time
likes to stick her tongue in and out like a lizard
hates it when we're driving and have to stop at a red light (don't we all!?!)
likes to be walked around upright facing forward (Seth says thank goodness for baby bjorn)
smiles a lot, especially when she sees mom or dad
has both of her parents smitten!

Chili anyone?

We had a great time carrying Adalyn around at our ward's Halloween "Harvest Festival" last night. The flier on Sunday said there would be games for candy, a pie eating contest, a root beer chug-a-lug, and a chili cook-off. We had a brilliant idea on how to capitalize on this after seeing a chili pepper costume online ... which we scored for $1 on ebay! So we figured ... let's have Addy be our entry into the chili cook-off! Right when we walked in the judges said that she won for sure. No contest!

Some people enter their kids into baby pageants ... we enter ours into chili cook-offs ...

Sure she's cute now, but when she's old enough she'll be saying, "did you really do this to me?" Addy ... that's just how your parents roll. haha!

While the little one sleeps, I decided to do a quick update with a bunch of pictures...I can't believe it's already been a month! After a crazy couple of weeks our little family is finally home together and enjoying each other.

My parents came and stayed with us for 4 or 5 days after Adalyn was born. They were HUGE lifesavers! They cooked, cleaned, washed, babysat, and my dad even bought shelves and organized our garage!!! (I think he got a little bored/cabin fever) Who knew all we had to do was have a baby to get this kind of treatment? haha, maybe we should have done this sooner...

After a week of visitors we had a couple days before we had to make a trip to Utah. Adalyn and I headed up about a week before Seth so that we could go to my cousin's wedding, and he came up later for his sister's wedding the next weekend. We saw lots of family, I threw a bridal shower for Seth's sister, and went to her beautiful wedding...needless to say, it was a busy time.

We got to go up to the cabin for Sunday dinner for my mom's birthday. The leaves were beautiful!

She also met great-grandma A (plus tons of aunts, uncles, and cousins she didn't even know she had)

At Sharley's wedding...she happened to cry through the whole ceremony!

My mom (and all of our family members) hated to see us go! (ok, they hated to see the baby go) We had such a great time but it is good to be back in our own home again. I got some newborn pictures of Adalyn taken by Jessica, the same photographer that took the ones at the hospital...I will post them soon, she did a great job!

Adalyn Rae Gonzalez!!!

Our precious baby girl finally made her appearance in the world on September 14, 2009 at 4:32 AM. She was 20 inches long and weighed 10 pounds even...yup, I said 10 pounds! This was a huge surprise to everyone, including my doctor who just 4 days earlier had estimated her to be about 7 pounds...

We went to the hospital on Sunday night at 7:30 for a scheduled induction, since I was a week past my due date. (FYI-The pictures were taken by an awesome photographer, Jessica--check out her blog withoutaplace.blogspot.com) I have to admit, I was a little hesitant about having her there, but I love the pictures that were taken to capture this huge day in our lives...

The epidural was AMAZING!!! I really didn't feel a thing...and there is NO WAY I could have done it without one!

I ended up progressing really fast...I went from 5 cm to 10 cm in about an hour right after my water broke. Seth was sleeping and woke to me telling him it was time to push!

We love our sweet Adalyn, she has been such a great baby so far with her mellow demeanor. It is crazy that she is finally here, we have been waiting almost 6 years for her! It seems like she has already changed so much in the 6 short days that we have had her. We are excited for this next chapter in our lives and our family. We can't wait to see what experiences lay ahead and look forward to the memories we'll create. All we can say is ... here goes nothin' ;)

pregnancy thoughts

I know that we said our next post would probably be a baby announcement...well, it's NOT! We are still patiently waiting and it got me to thinking that I haven't really recorded or written much about being pregnant. While I could probably complain about a million things right now, I have decided to do the opposite. Overall, pregnancy has been a great experience for me (so far)...Here are some things that I am going to MISS about it:

The early weeks of pregnancy when only Seth and I knew our little special little secret...

Being able to finally share our secret with family and friends in clever ways and watching their reactions...

Waking up one Sunday morning feeling the first fluttering kicks of life inside me...

Having those flutters then turn into bigger, stronger, movements and secretly loving it because it's only something that I know... (and I think I am going to miss those occasional kick in the ribs)

Using the excuse that I can't bend down or carry something because I'm pregnant...

People telling me how small I am and giving me compliments when I am the biggest I have been in my entire life and feel like an elephant...

The random discussions it starts with people and the instant bond you get/have with others (everyone has a pregnancy story)...

Eating whatever I want, when I want it (okay, I pretty much did this anyway, but I don't think I'll be able to keep it up much longer)...

Using my belly as a table to hold my cereal bowl, ice-cream bowl, etc, etc...

Imagining what she will look like...

Having the excuse to pamper myself with manicures, pedicures and massages...

Looking at my growing bump in the mirror and knowing there's a person in there!

Having Seth kiss and snuggle my belly, sing to it, read to it and feel her movements...

Getting to occasionally butt in line for the restroom...

Baby showers! I have had some amazing showers from awesome friends and family who put so much work into them. I am reminded and amazed at people's generosity and thoughtfulness...

I have loved shopping for baby stuff with Seth (especially fun since we're having a girl) and discussing everything baby related from names to parenting and watching his face light up with excitement each time...

I am so excited to finally meet this little girl, to see who's been rolling and thumping around inside of me, hold her, dress her, and cover her head with kisses...hopefully it's not too much longer!!!

Europe Part 4: Paris

We did it ... 4 months after returning we're finally finishing the posts and pictures of the trip. Better late than never??? haha! (If you're wondering if you missed something, you didn't.... we pretty much posted part 3 and 4 together.) So here it is ... our last stop! Paris!

Here we are at church. We didn't understand anything that was going on in the meeting ...

This was the day we went shopping down the famous Champs Elysees. This is a Toyota concept car in the Toyota store. That bag Seth is carrying has some crazy macaroons in them and other french pastry types. It was a long walk up and down toward the Arch de Triumph.

One of the many baguettes we enjoyed in France. Seth even started going out every morning to get something fresh and new from the nearby bakery.

This is Versailles. A lot of gold everywhere, miles and miles of gardens, and the former home of Marie Antoinette!

Here is one of the walls of the palace. Apparently they haven't re-gold plated (that's not a word) the full building yet.

This was a familiar site ... Lindsay and Scott standing in line for the bathroom. I understand why pregnant Linz is in line so often, but what was up with Scott??? I think he had to go more than she did!

The Hall of Mirrors...

Here we are behind the palace in the gardens. That lake behind us is waaaay back there, those are boats on it in the distance. Apparently the king would have his own little ship battles on that lake just for the fun of it.

Notre Dame was a familiar site. We were living about a block away and crossed the courtyard almost daily.

This is in the Louvre. Up at the top of the stairs is Winged Victory. Seth started having that familiar feeling, almost like deja vu. Like ... he's been here before, ya know?

It was when we got to this room that he knew where he had seen and walked these halls before. This is the room that contains the Mona Lisa. He laughed as he said, "oh I know how I know this place ... from playing The DaVinci Code game on the Xbox!" haha! Apparently he went all through the Louvre in a few levels of the game. He knew where hallways were, stairs, elevators. It was hilarious!

By the way ... no pictures (and you can see everyone has their hands up with a camera in their hands)

After the Louvre we got tickets to go to the top of Notre Dame. See the gargoyles in the background?

Ok, so the Gellato was amazing in Italy, the Daim was good in Switzerland, but here in France they also had these Glaciers. If you go there find the plaque that says Berthillon. You won't regret it. It was amazing how incredibly flavor packed these fruity scoops of heaven were. So rich you could just barely finish it, but when it's gone you want to go buy another! Seth's is Strawberry ... mine is Rhubarb! mmmm...

Stopped here every time we went to the Eiffel Tower. They make crazy good crapes here, and everyone knows I LOVE cotton candy! Seth is also taking town a green apple slushy! We mentioned the crazy flavorful ice cream ... but amazingly they also had crazy flavorful slushies, perfect for when it got hot out there!

Seth was making me so mad by holding the camera over the edge to take shots like this ... I don't care if the strap is around his wrist I don't wanna risk losing our pictures!! haha!

We stood in line for a good hour to get back down, but when we did we got there just in time for them to turn the lights on! (And no, this is not the Vegas Eiffel Tower)

This is how we had to travel around when it came to stairs. Seth would pretty much push me up everywhere we went ... including the 400+ spiral staircase to the top of Notre Dame!

Here's a tip for you future France travelers ... If you get lost in the subway tunnels ... just follow the Sortie!

Here we are in our seats, we went to a Ballet in the Opera building. I enjoyed it. Seth thought it was kind of a snooze-fest. But he enjoyed the last dance ... the people were dressed like zombies and their dancing was like doing the robot. And he's ok with zombie-dancing robots! Every here and there between robot like movements they'd do this shimmy seizure type thing, and he'd almost laugh out loud. I hope people around didn't hear him. haha!

And here we are all tuckered out in the Airport in Paris, waiting to board the plane that will take us home. We were tired, but this picture was more for show ;) It was a great trip and we're glad we went!

If you decide to go back and review any of the other parts, you will notice that Seth is wearing the exact same jacket/vest in every picture. He bought this jacket just for our trip. He wanted something with pockets on the inside and that is what he got, this thing has like 25 pockets in it!!! He loved this thing, he wore it everywhere and it literally carried everything, and from the outside you'd never know! Take that pick pocket people ;) I didn't have to carry a purse around the whole time. Here's an example of how much stuff he had on him ... take for instance the Opera:

Cell phone, iPod, Camera, keys to the apartment, wallet (in a hidden pocket of course), Passports (mine and his), money (carried it separate from the wallet and his credit cards), multiple maps (one as large as a magazine), tickets, small LED flashlight, umbrella, 20 oz. water bottle, package of tissues, package of hand sanitizer, pack of gum, my lip gloss, lotion, and anything else I needed including 3-4 snacks (granola bars etc) and in the back pocket he would carry the hood of his jacket and when he took the sleeves off and made it a vest he'd store those in there too! Ok ... that was just the stuff he carried around daily ... when we were at the Ballet he even snuck in a package containing 2 large macaroons and the quarter size can of Pringles. (I was starving and made him go out and get me food! haha)

The security guards had no idea, and when we'd get to a metal detector he'd just take off his whole jacket and run it through their scanners. One time he forgot to take it off! He tried to step back and take his jacket off for the scanner but the French guard said heck no, get over here and broke out his little detector wand. It was hilarious ... it would beep, Seth would take something out of his pocket. It would beep again, Seth would take something out of another pocket. This went on for quite awhile down the whole right side of his body. When the security guard was satisfied with that side he moved to the left, Seth opened his jacket and revealed that he had just as many pockets on the left side as he did the right!!! The security guard was very upset, rolled his eyes and just told us to get our stuff and go! haha! Seth just smiled and said, "Jokes on him ... I could have done this all day." ;) If anyone wants to know, Seth says it's the SeV Evolution Jacket, and he highly recommends it for travel!

Anywhoo, that's our story! So many memories that we hope did the trip justice as we gave you a taste of our experience out there! Thanks to Seth's 900+ pictures we had a lot to show for it! Next time we post something it'll probably be for a baby announcement!

Europe Part 3

Here we go, Part 3: Switzerland ...

We are bound and determined to get this finished before the baby comes. (We'll have other stuff to post when that happens :)

Here we are on one of the MANY trains we took to get to Switzerland. Why are Seth and his brother sitting in the hall way instead of the car we were assigned you ask? Well, this particular train double (and possiby even triple) booked these seats. So there was someone already in our car!!! If that weren't enough, this was perhaps the only train we took all trip that didn't have air conditioning!!! That's a recipe for disaster. Long story short, the conductor made Seth and Scott leave the hallway and move 5 cars down, leaving Cassie and I with no information on which stop will be next nor instruction on what to do! ... Ah the memories :)

Made it to Switzerland and found a last minute hotel ... a Best Western in Interlaken! Seth went down to get his pregnant wife some food. He ordered a salad for me, but I'm sure he didn't know we'd get a year supply! haha! Seth said the restaurant owner was perhaps the coolest guy ever, wearing MC Hammer pants with a cow pattern on them, and they had delicious apple soda type drink!!!

We just thought the keys were cool. A lot of them were like this out there in Europe.

Yep, extra large pepper grinder ...

DAIM!!!! I got this ice cream thing while we were waiting for our shuttle to the hotel, it was so amazingly tasty, and so creamy that it made me say, mmm daaaaaim! (I think I ate at least 4 or 5 of these while we were there)

What's that ... there's a giant clock in our hotel??? How could Seth resist taking a Back to the Future-esque picture?

Hooray!!! We found the crazy good apple soda!!! We even bought an extra to take home! For those that don't know, Seth is quite the connoisseur of fizzy apple drinks, from cider to apple beer. This stuff from Switzerland tops them all. I believe his exact words were, "It's amazing because it kicks you in the back of the throat with the first swig like a good apple drink should, but this stuff will do it every time! It kicks you in the throat and keeps doing it the whole way down!" haha!

Props to Seth's cousin Jason on this one (who served his mission around these parts.) He gave us a list of "must do's" and eating a kobab was one of them! To say they are crazy good is an understatement!

You saw the lake and mountains in the front of the hotel ... here's the view directly behind it! Nothing but waterfall and mountains ... beeeeeeautiful!

This is Seth ... "Ballin' in Ballenberg." He's just gonna leave his hand up there because it's so pretty. (Reference from "White men can't jump" for those that don't know.) Ballenberg is like a giant outdoor museum of Swiss architecture throughout the centuries. Cool place.

I'm expecting to see Hansel and Gretel come running out of this house any minute!

Seth: So there were these huge chickens and a giant rooster at this one spot ... I go to use the restroom, and when I come back out, Linz is sitting on a bench and these things are surrounding her, and inching closer with each step. Lindsay Gonzalez ... animal whisperer ... who knew?

Switzerland had some great hikes, and great views! Luckily Linz's ankle situation (as described in Part 2) was retreating a little. It still wasn't easy for her.

This was a really good hike, and really hard for Linz. She is quite mentally tough though!!! It was awesome to see her get to the top, jump up and down on her swollen ankles and yell, "I DID IT!!!"

Then we realized we'd have to hike back down ... haha

This is the famous Geissbach funicular. (More or less a mountain trolley.) One of the oldest and longest in Switzerland!

We checked out a wood carving school. Seth's monkeying around ... (I know what you're thinking ... you're wrong though. He's the one on the right.) haha

We made quite the extra effort to make sure we got to the Temple in Bern. This was quite important to Seth and I to get there to do a session. I have ancestors from Switzerland and it was especially important to Seth because since there is not a temple in Russia, this is the temple that members from his mission in Russia go to when they do their own temple work. Seth talked to the temple president and they let him do the whole session in Russian!! He said it was awesome, and he likes doing stuff like this because it's always interesting to him the words they use in other languages, and he learns a bit extra the way they carry small differences in translation and meaning.

Yep ... definitely a good experience!

After the temple we had some time to hang around Bern. Bern is "Bear" in ... german?? Switzerlandish? Anywhoo, there is a whole history with bears in this area, so they always kept a couple of bears in the city. So why is Linz frowning? Apparently the last bear died like a couple weeks before we got there. They were building another, bigger place for the bears to live and they decided not to replace them until the new place was finished. What can ya do, right?

We hit up a Burger King to finish our trip to Switzerland. You noticed there was a lot of food I'm sure, what you don't see is the price tag of that food. The cheapest thing was that kabob, which was like $9 for just the kabob! (yes I'm pre-converting the money for you) For us to get 2 meals at Burger King it cost almost $30!!! The dinners we were having at the Geissbach hotel, the cheapest was like $45, and the most expensive (the first dinner, the first night, before we knew what we were getting into) $80! haha. And it wasn't even the way nice expensive restaurant in the hotel. Tasty? You bet. Expensive? You know it. Did we worry about it ... not really, that's Switzerland! We loved it! (And yes, we brought home a lot of chocolate, some fizzy apple soda drink, and a cowbell!)

Europe Part 2

For everyone that was sitting by their computer in anticipation of the second round of pictures from our Europe trip ... your prayers were answered! haha! We present to you Part 2: Rome

Here we are at one of the many train stations on our trip.

The Vatican was awesome to see thanks to our fantastic tour guide. We were able to get in early before the museum even opened! We highly recommend signing up for a tour if anyone decides to go!

Linz was soooo craving this Snickers. Luckily it hit the spot ... it better have for 2 Euros! haha

If you remember from Part I photos, we had a picture with shells at the beach. We had planned to take some home, and Seth even lathered, rinsed and repeated cleaning the shells ... but they still stunk up our luggage. Sadly, we threw them out.

Seth's bro, Scott, was all about hitting up the Hard Rock in Rome.

The Colosseum! It was kinda funny when we went inside, we were watching this guy walk all around the place looking for a piece to chip off the columns and stuff. Why pay for a souvenir when you can create your own huh?

Chillin' in the Forum. We only had 2 days in Rome which worked out perfect. One day spent at the Vatican, and the other for the Coloseum and the Forum.

We came ... we saw ... we conquered!

Well this is a story all of it's own. After hitting the beach in Venice Linz got a crazy sunburn on part of her legs that made her legs swell up like a ... uh ... something! (even after applying SPF 50 sunscreen) It was pretty hard getting around near the end of Venice, here in Rome and the beginning of Switzerland. I even had to help stand her up in the morning and walk her around till her ankles and legs warmed up. The swelling completely locked up her joints! She was a trooper though, I mean ... you're only in Europe once, right? And ... when in Rome! haha ... but I digress ...

.... not even close to the Mirage as Seth knows it here in Las Vegas!

So as you can see, Rome was a lot of fun (aside from Lindsay's inability to walk) haha! There was a whole lot to see and we learned a lot of interesting stuff! Next stop .... Switzerland!!! (If we ever get around to posting Part 3 of this 4 part series! haha)

Europe: Part 1

Yes, I realize we have been back from our trip for a month and no pictures yet. My family keeps asking when I am going to blog about the trip...so here goes part 1:

We flew out of Las Vegas and met up with Scott and Cassie (Seth's brother and his wife) in SLC. We endured a long red-eye flight to Paris where we had the day to kill before our night train departed to Venice.

We made it! Don't we look fantastic after literally days of travel??? We took a water taxi to the house we stayed at.

Venice was absolutely beautiful! We loved it there and definitely will be going back someday!

Where do you start when you haven't blogged for months?!?

Let's see...

Back in April some friends that I graduated high school with left their kiddos and husbands behind and made a little trip to Vegas! It was a weekend filled with shopping, eating, pedicures, and catching up! We also went to a session in the Las Vegas temple together. It made me realize how lucky and blessed I was to have and still have such great friends growing up! Love ya girls!

Seth and I occasionally like to play "tourist" in our town so one day we decided to go to the wax museum at the Venetian. (having free tickets helped) Here are a couple of my favorite pics from the excursion:

Seth Graduated! He is officially an alumnus from UNLV with a degree that basically has a long name. It goes something like this: International Business Major with a functional area study in Marketing and Eastern Europe (Russia) as his cultural area study. Because of the "swine flu" no one was allowed to shake hands when they received their diplomas so it was kinda funny for a while to see what people did instead of shaking. Both of our families were able to come down and celebrate. Way to go Seth!

We went to Europe! We recently returned from an almost 3 week vacation to Italy, Switzerland, and France. We had such a great time! I will be doing separate posts from the different areas so stay tuned!

We are off!

It's been a while.

It's gonna be another 3 weeks at least.

A lot has happened in our lives the past month.

We'll have to share later because tomorrow we are going on a little trip.

We can't wait to leave the country and see what it's like in France, Italy, and Switzerland.
